Artist’s Statement

The farms, fields, trees, mountains, and skies of Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee rendered in fluid, moving, transparent watercolor are what make up my landscape paintings.

A lifetime of watching the ever-changing passage of time and light over the hills and mountains of my native land has given me a feel for the countryside. I use shape and color to convey on to paper the emotions I feel for the place where I grew up.

Many trips to Europe with my husband Tedd and students from Virginia Intermont College gave a love and feel for painting the city.
